Spring is a busy time of year for Terina Coffey, Coles Co. SWCD’s Education Co-ordinator. She’s been traveling around to local elementary schools educating students on environmental topics.
One of her most popular programs is the Lorax Project, in which she dons a cat-in-the-hat style, red & white striped hat and reads Dr. Seuss’s book “The Lorax.”
This year alone, Terina has visited 18 classrooms and presented the environmentally-themed book to over 450 students. She’s been doing this program for 4 years, which means she’s delivered her conservation message to thousands of students!
Arbor Day program on track for a big year
Thanks to your generous donations, the annual Arbor Day program for Coles County’s 3rd graders is right on track! We will be able to provide a white pine seedling to every third grader in Charleston, Mattoon, and Oakland school districts.
