We received some really great submissions for this year’s local Conservation Photo Contest. Congratulations to this year’s winners: Sandra Cooper and Joseph Perez! Cooper’s submission “Monarch Magnet” took first in Close Up Conservation. Perez received several first place awards: in Conservation Across America with his photo “Weathered Barn,” in Conservation Practices with “Sunset at the Lake,” and in Conservation in Action with “Dwindling Pollinator.”
Additionally, the “crowd favorite” on social media was “Butterflies” by Karen Barringer. All submitted photographs are on display at the SWCD office, and were submitted to the Association of Illinois Soil & Water Conservation Districts’ annual contest.
We are also proud to announce that Sandra Coopers submission titled “Four Horsepower Farming Still Getting It Done” won at the state level in the Conservation Across America category, and she’ll be recognized for her accomplishment at the Illinois Association of Soil and Water Conservation District’s annual meeting in July.
