The Coles County SWCD is now accepting applications for the IL Dept of Ag’s Partners For Conservation Fund program. The program provides financial assistance to landowners and operators to install conservation practices such as waterways, terraces, filter strips, pollinator habitat, rain gardens, and more.
The program also provides cost-share assistance for the sealing of abandoned wells, which pose a threat to public health since they provide a direct pathway for contaminants to enter groundwater. Groundwater is a source of drinking water for thousands of the people in the area, so protecting it is a priority.
All Coles County landowners and operators are eligible to apply for the PFC program. Although applications are accepted year-round, funds are limited so interested parties are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
